Taking waste to the transfer site or the landfill?
All loads must be covered or secured to alleviate loss on the way to the landfill.
You may purchase netting from Birch Hills County to ensure that the contents does not litter the Country Roads.

By making better decisions about what you buy and how you dispose of it, you can help protect our environment.
Birch Hills County offers a recycle program for your used grain bags; you can bring them to any of our landfill / transfer sites. Please note bags must be rolled up.
Accepted At Landfill
Electronic waste, Paint cans recycling and bale twine recycling is accepted.
When taking the following items to the landfills please place them in their designated areas.
- Propane Tanks
- Chemical Jugs
- Use Motor Oil
- Electronic Waste
- Bale Twine
Tangent and Wanhan sites accept chemical jugs and used oil.
Chemical Jugs must be triple rinsed prior to disposal.
Used oil must be placed in the appropriate containment drum. There are seperate areas/locations at each site for filters & containers as well.
The success of this service is dependent on each user. Please dispose of the used products correctly.

Not Accepted At Landfill
- Concrete disposal
Concrete is not accepted at any Birch Hills County Landfills
- Grain bags
Located at Wanham, Eaglesham, Tangent and Watino are blue recycling bins for paper, glass, tin and plastic.
The Wanham bins are located off main street on the east side of the street.
The Eaglesham recycle bins are located north of 50 avenue off main street.
In Tangent they are located at the intersection of 10th Street and Railway Avenue on the north side of the road.
In Watino the bins are located off of Railway avenue on the south side of the street.
